Road Trip

I think that road trips are the great American pastime.  While there are so many great things to explore within your own city, a road trip allows you to expand your adventures whether you are traveling an hour away or across the country.  Just pack a bag or two, hop in your car and take off for parts unknown.

For me, there is usually a lot of planning involved in my road trips and I like doing them alone.  Mainly because you are on your own time schedule and don’t have to worry about others needs and wants.  However, back in October 2018, I was visiting friends in Manteca, CA and they suggested a sort of spur of the moment road trip to Yosemite once they found out I had never been.  It was a fairly short drive, about two hours each way.  The road we chose to Yosemite was steep and winding up and then down the mountains, but once you turned the final curve and happened upon the Half Dome View Point, it was all worth it!  From that moment on, I was in awe.

I can’t say enough good things about Yosemite.  It is hard to describe the wondrousness of that place.  It seems unreal.  You really have to see it is person to truly appreciate it.  I also had to be creative with my pictures since we didn’t stop the car, just a quick drive in and out, so I was contorting my body in weird ways out the car window trying to get a shot of the beauty that surrounded me.  I think I did a pretty good job with my pictures considering.  I posted several of those shots on my Instagram account this past week which you can see and follow along here.

I would love to return and spend at least a week in the Yosemite Valley.  You never know where the road will take you.
